The ambition of civil and construction engineers is to serve the people.  We design and build various structures to ensure the safety of people's lives and property, and also construct and maintain infrastructures to further human civilization and to attain economic prosperity.  In recent years, climate change and the demand for renewable energy have highlighted the importance of the civil construction industry.  As civil and construction works deem necessary for people's livelihood, engineering education aims not only to impart professional knowledge, but also to help our students have a sense of justice and compassion while respecting the natural environment and understanding the need of minority citizens.

The Department of Civil and Construction Engineering (CCE) at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST) was established 45 years ago, and has since cultivated first-line engineers in accordance with the school motto: “Precision in Work, Sincerity in Attitude”. Our alumni are down-to-earth, diligent and active. They work in government agencies, consulting companies, contractors, as well as upstream and downstream related sectors. They go up to the mountain and down to the sea, dedicate themselves to their work and service. We expect the succeeding students to have team spirit while learning professional knowledge, are willing to communicate, know how to face pressure, and always maintain the passion for learning and innovation. We started recruiting international students 15 years ago; our international alumni spread across five continents. Now both the number and proportion of international degree-seeking students are the highest among all the civil engineering programs in Taiwan. It is our hope that local students and foreign students can learn and interact in an English-taught environment, thus becoming professional engineers with international mobility

This world may not lack people who are vying for fame and fortune, but it absolutely needs engineers who are sincere and optimistic. “NTUST CCE, unremitting forward.” We use this to encourage the past, present, and future NTUST CCE people.
